Study of a holistic approach for the interoperability and coexistence of dynamic systems: Implication in Smart Cities models

The purpose of this project is to study the most relevant scientific and technological aspects for the development of a holistic approach which identifies and addresses the problems of coexistence of dynamic computer systems, that is, those which are based on evolutionary architecture structure, the components of which change constantly over time. To that end, the starting point is a methodology for reconfiguring and adapting architectures by means of hybrid techniques of model transformation, machine learning and natural user interaction. This methodology has been tested and validated by several trials including architectural settings Mashups, intelligent user interfaces and home automation environments. The project aims to apply new trials of this model in other recent dynamic architecture computer systems. In recent years the emergence of a new generation of Information Technology (IT), with developments in the field of Internet of Things (IoT) and its integration in to the Cloud environments, has been witnessed. Today, this has facilitated the subsequent emergence of new solutions IoT based dynamic systems in our environment which have been developed and deployed separately and independently. In this context, the project aims to study the problems that could arise as a result of the coexistence of various dynamic systems, particularly interoperability, integration and scalability. The proposal could be of use to determined ecosystems of models of the smart city with application in the fields of automation, intelligent buildings, infrastructure, communications networks and Smart cars, among others currently coexisting. Specifically the project aims to explore Smart Buildings and Smart Mobility case study scenarios. The existence of a holistic approach is the first step towards the development of a formal framework for the coexistence of dynamic systems which, applied to Smart City models, allow advances in certain societal challenges such as optimization, management as well as better use of resources and services in ecosystems of sustainability, mobility, accessibility, security and so on. The scientific and technological pillars of this study are based on new processing algorithms of spatial queries in scalable and distributed environments, spatial networks, mobility and trajectories, natural interaction, computational intelligence, model-based engineering, visualization scenarios, and application of hybrid techniques of service engineering and Web of the things (WoT). The project aims to facilitate and improve the quality of life for everyone including those with limited physical mobility. The project aligns with the challenges of Economy and the Digital Society State Strategy Plan CICYT-I 2013-2020.
