Rosa Ayala is an Associate Professor at the Department of Informatics, University of Almeria (Spain). She received the BS and MS degrees in Computer Science from the University of Granada, and the PhD degree in Computer Science from the University of Almeria and conducted from the University of TU Delft (Netherlands). From 1993 to 1999 she worked as a research fellow at FIAPA Research Center where she worked in several national and international research projects on Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and satellite images. From 1993 to 2003 she worked as a Lecturer at the University of Almería. She has participated in several projects founded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Andalusian Ministry ST. From 2007 to 2015 she has been Deputy Director in Higher Engineering School of the University of Almería. Since 2015 she is the Chief in Charge of the Campus and Infrastructure Secretariat in the General Direction of Campus, Infrastructure and Sustainability of the University of Almeria. She is author and co-author in several scientific publications, among journal articles, national and international book chapters, and publications in national and international congress proceedings. She belongs to the Applied Computing Group (TIC-211) of the University of Almería. Her research interests include Satellite Classification, GIS, Cellular Automata and Smart Cities.
